Nathan Sowden, Vice President of Cyber & Strategic Innovation
Nathan S. Sowden is a dynamic principal solution professional with over 30 years of comprehensive experience in cybersecurity and information security management. He has proven expertise in leading large teams, managing multimillion-dollar contracts, and optimizing IT security solutions tailored to client needs. He is committed to driving organizational success through innovative strategies and collaborative problem-solving in the fast-paced cybersecurity landscape.
Nathan is serving as the Vice President, Cyber and Strategic Innovations and reports to the Senior Vice President of Cyber, Technology, Operations & Strategic Innovation (CTO&SI). Mr. Sowden is a seasoned technology and cybersecurity executive with a proven record of driving innovation, digital transformation, and mission resilience across the Department of Defense (DoD) and federal government. With deep expertise in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and IT operations, he has led the design and deployment of enterprise solutions that safeguard critical national systems and data. His work with DARPA and the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) was instrumental in the development and fielding of the DoD Common Access Card (CAC) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), setting the standard for secure identity and access management across government.
At the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and NASA, Mr. Sowden delivered transformative cybersecurity and governance initiatives, including automation of FISMA compliance processes, while serving as Senior Advisor to the FAA Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and NASA Chief Information Officer (CIO). A trusted advisor and thought leader, he has presented classified cybersecurity and wargaming analyses to senior Army leadership and members of Congress. In his current role, Mr. Sowden oversees Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Service Delivery, and IT Operations within the CTO&SI Division, supporting the DoD, federal civilian, and intelligence communities.
Mr. Sowden has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and holds the following industry certifications:
